This years holiday season has been incredibly different from any other year for us – as it has for many people across the world as well. What is usually a busy time of year buying gifts, planning special moments and spending time with loved ones, this year’s pace was very different. Finally feeling settled here and with nowhere to rush to, instead we were able to take some time to reflect on 2020 and our time here in Copenhagen – in addition to spending even more time than usual playing LEGO.
Since landing at CPH we have had some amazing highs, and some gruelling lows. We knew how much support we had with family and friends in Calgary, but sometimes you have to learn the hard way that “knowing” and “feeling” are very different. We have certainly felt the absence of all the amazing people we have in our lives in Calgary. With no one to turn to, we had a mom stretched to her limits at school, a dad exhausted by the endless energy of two young boys (and starved for some adult conversation) and a couple young rascals that have taught us that the thing they want the most is often the hardest to give them – our undivided attention. BUT, there is a benefit to being isolated. We have worked through so many self imposed challenges and feel closer as a family of four than we have in a long time, maybe ever. Looking ahead to 2021 as an opportunity to continue to grow in so many ways, individually and as a family.
While stretching ourselves across 8 time zones has made staying in touch with everyone in Calgary challenging, please know that not a day goes by that we don’t share a story or a memory about you. So many things about this adventure and Copenhagen have been amazing, but it has only reinforced our understanding that it is not where you live, but those you surround yourself with that makes a beautiful life.
While we could not be with you all this holiday season, we hope this video shows you two things: 1. That we are doing well and having plenty of fun in this beautiful place 2. We miss you dearly, hope you are doing well and cannot wait to be with you again!
Love from Copenhagen,
Rob, Natalie, Miller and Wynn

This was a wicked video! Looks like you guys are having tons of fun and spending lots of time together (although, sometimes might feel like too much lol!). Happy New Year to you all!
Amazing update, Rob! Your ATB family is missing you – keep up all the great adventures and activity. At least you’re not missing any football while you’re away (or let’s be honest, breakfasts with sluice juice!) All the best.
Amazing Rob! What a life experience for all of you. Just saying I saw you play with a soccer ball.. we need to talk. LOL
